On this day, I enjoyed fly fishing together with Eric, who had come to Japan from California, USA, while walking along the beautiful mountain streams of Hida Takayama. Eric had experience working as a fishing guide in Alaska for three years, and his skills were truly exceptional. During the day, the yamame trout were very nervous, so there were times when we couldn't catch as many fish as we hoped, but in the evening the fish became more active, and Eric succeeded in catching a series of magnificent iwana (char).
At first, he seemed a little puzzled by the Japanese style of fly fishing, but he gradually picked up the technique, and in the end, he impressively caught the biggest iwana of the day, measuring 28 centimeters. Eric's cheerful smile and his excellent fishing skills left a strong impression, and the time we spent together was extremely meaningful and enjoyable. If there is another opportunity, I would like to pursue even more fish. Thank you for these wonderful fishing memories.
