サヘルさんとシモンさん
今日のゲストは、アメリカからお越しのシモンさんとサヘルさんカップル。
海釣りは経験がありますが、川釣りは初めてということで、テンカラに挑戦していただきました。
テンカラは、日本式のフライフィッシング。
気配を消し、流れを読み、魚の居場所を見極める“忍者フィッシング”です。
最初は苦戦されていたシモンさん。
一方サヘルさんは、見た目はとても可愛らしいのに、中身は好奇心いっぱいの少年のよう✨
カエル、ヘビ、サワガニ…川の生き物にも興味津々です。
アドバイスを受けて、サヘルさんが先にイワナをキャッチ！
その後も次々とイワナを誘い出していきます。
最後はシモンさんも見事にイワナをゲット🎣
お二人とも大満足で、「また来ます！」と再会の約束をしてくださいました。
初めての川で、初めてのイワナ。
素敵な思い出になっていれば嬉しいです。
Today’s guests were Simon and Sahel, a lovely couple visiting all the way from the USA.
They’ve fished in the ocean before, but this was their first time on a mountain stream — so we gave tenkara a try.
Tenkara is a traditional Japanese style of fly fishing.
It’s all about moving silently, reading the current, and finding where the fish are hiding — what I like to call “Ninja Fishing.”
Simon had a bit of a tough start, but Sahel jumped right in.
She may look cute and delicate, but she’s got the curiosity of a young boy — fascinated by frogs, snakes, and river crabs!
After a few tips, Sahel landed the first iwana. And then another. And another.
By the end, Simon caught one too 🎣
Both of them left with big smiles and a promise to come back.
First time on a Japanese stream. First iwana.
I hope it’s a memory they’ll never forget.
