Today there was unexpected rain, causing the river to swell and become murky. Despite these circumstances, I guided Trevor Kantor, who visited from Washington, DC, in fly fishing. First, we searched for a river with less murkiness and started fishing, but perhaps because of the drifting fallen leaves and small branches, the fish remained sluggish.

However, in the afternoon, as if our wishes had been heard, the sky cleared, and the water level began to settle. Responding to this change, Trevor quickly understood my advice and was able to easily catch many char. Although it was dry fly fishing under harsh conditions, he skillfully targeted the backflows and gaps between rocks in the river, and his form as he caught the char was splendid.

For myself as well, sharing this kind of experience was an extremely joyful time. I look forward very much to the next opportunity to fish with him again.
