オーストラリアからエキスパート
オーストラリアから来たエキスパート、マットさん。
ダムの鯉も渓流のトラウトも軽々と釣る腕前。
でも、日本のアマゴだけは別格だった。
夕マヅメ、ハッチが始まりライズが連発。
完璧に流したドライフライを、スレたアマゴは見切る。
日没寸前、ようやくヒット。
良型を足元まで寄せて、タモ入れ寸前…
フックアウト。
それでもマットさんは笑ってた。
何年ガイドしても思う。
日本のヤマメとアマゴは、世界一釣りにくいトラウトだ。
世界の腕自慢、待ってます。
An expert fly fisherman, Matt, flew in all the way from Australia.
He makes carp in dams and trout in streams look easy.
But Japanese amago? That’s a different story.
At dusk, the hatch kicked in and rises exploded everywhere.
He drifted a perfect dry fly, but the spooky amago saw right through it.
Right before sunset, he finally hooked a solid one.
Brought it all the way to his feet… just inches from the net…
And it threw the hook.
Even then, Matt was all smiles.
After years of guiding, I’m convinced:
Japanese yamame and amago are the toughest trout in the world.
