ずっと会いたいと思っていた人に、今日やっと会えた。

アメリカ・アイダホ州。
フライフィッシングアカデミー *Wooly Buggers* のブライアンさんと、息子のモーガンくん。

「日本で、初めてテンカラ竿を持ちたい。
日本の渓流で、トラウトを釣ってみたい。」

その一言を聞いた時、僕はなんだか胸が熱くなった。

そして始まった釣り。
初めてのテンカラとは思えない滑らかなキャスト。
流れを読む目。
もう、完全にベテランの動き。

でも一番驚いたのは、15歳のモーガンくん。

僕が話したことを、音を吸い取るみたいに取り込んで、
自分のものにしてしまう。

気づけば、彼は軽々とイワナを掛けていた。

Wooly Buggersで育った彼なら、
きっと素晴らしい師匠たちに囲まれてきたんだろう。

そんな親子と、今日一緒に竿を振れたこと。
本当に、感謝しかない。

ありがとう。そして、また会おう。

I finally met someone I'd been wanting to meet for a long time.

In Idaho, USA.

Brian and his son, Morgan, from the fly fishing academy *Wooly Buggers*.

"I want to hold a tenkara rod for the first time in Japan.
I want to fish for trout in a Japanese mountain stream."

When I heard those words, my heart was filled with emotion.

Then the fishing began.

His casts were incredibly smooth, unbelievable for a first-time tenkara angler.

His eyes read the current perfectly.

His movements were those of a seasoned veteran.

But what surprised me the most was 15-year-old Morgan.

He absorbed everything I said, as if absorbing the sound,

making it his own.

Before I knew it, he had effortlessly hooked a char.

Having grown up at Wooly Buggers,
he must have been surrounded by wonderful mentors.

I am truly grateful to have been able to fish with this father and son today.
