暑さがピークの飛騨高山で過ごすひと時。

ニューヨークから遊びに来てくれたジェラミーさんと息子のホビーくん。彼らの挑戦はダム湖での鯉釣り。日中は35℃を超える厳しい暑さの日。魚たちは水面近くを泳ぎ、フライフィッシングやルアーを試すもなかなかヒットせず。渓流へ移ろうかと考えていた矢先、夕方になると水面から鯉たちが姿を消したのに気づき、アプローチを変更。

吸い込み釣りに切り替え、静かにチャンスを待ちます。すると、一瞬の当たりを逃さず、ホビーくんが見事に一匹大物をキャッチ。それが突破口となり、ジェラミーさんも続々と釣り上げました。途中の試行錯誤があったからこそ、最高の終幕を迎えることができました。

この季節、日中の暑さにはご注意を。でも、一日の最後のひと時が素晴らしい体験になるかもしれませんね。

A moment spent in Hida Takayama at the peak of the heat.

Jeremy, who came to visit from New York, and his son Hobby. Their challenge was carp fishing at the dam lake. It was a harshly hot day with temperatures exceeding 35°C during the day. The fish were swimming near the surface, and despite trying fly fishing and lures, they had little success. Just as they were considering moving to a mountain stream, they noticed in the evening that the carp had disappeared from the surface, and changed their approach.

They switched to bait fishing and quietly waited for an opportunity. Then, without missing a split-second bite, Hobby successfully caught a big one. That breakthrough led to a series of catches by Jeremy as well. Because of all the trial and error along the way, they were able to enjoy the best possible ending.

During this season, please be careful of the daytime heat. But, the final moments of the day may just become an unforgettable experience.
